Is Forefoot Running Faster than Heel Strike Running? YES!
Просмотров 2,1 тыс.4 месяца назад
Another report has found yet another reason forefoot running is faster than heel strike running and that is due to better leg spring compression, which means the leg works better as an energy-saving spring if a forefoot strike is engaged. If a heel strike is engaged, the leg quickly becomes an ineffectual, sloppy spring that is also over-burdened by competing forces that are amplified with incr...
Why is Running on Your Forefoot Better
Просмотров 9297 месяцев назад
The big reasons running on your forefoot is better is that it naturally increases step-rate or cadence, which means the feet spend less time on the ground, whereas a low cadence means the feet spend more time on the ground. The clinical importance of a higher run cadence via forefoot striking is that it engages an interaction of the foot with the ground that is so brief that many forms of impac...
SoftStar PRIMAL RunAmoc Review

The most WIDEST barefoot shoe is the SoftStar Primals, which also sit on a 5mm thin grippy Vibram sole that performs admirably well on all surfaces, especially wet surfaces covered in slimy leaves! The upper is made of real leather, which is why the Primals will keep your feet comfortably warm in temperatures as low as -16C (3F)! You can also custom design the entire upper, making it whatever c...
Can You Run with High Arch Feet? Yes, Just Don't Heel Strike!
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.Год назад
You can absolutely run if you have high arches! Just remember the best way to connect with the ground if you're a high arched runner is on your forefoot NOT your heel! This is because forefoot running was found to do a better job at engaging the arch in a more functional manner as a shock absorber (REGARDLESS of arch height) vs heel strike running. It turns out the arch loads differently, in a ...
There’s NO Way To Heel Strike Safely When Running
Просмотров 534Год назад
It’s well-known that landing heel-first when running is the biggest producer of injurious impact. But, can a heel strike runner implement low-impact mechanics elsewhere to their running form to prevent impact from rising to pain inducing levels? The latest research says NO. Article with references: runforefoot.com/does-forefoot-running-prevent-injury/ My videos on why heel strike running is bad...
Forefoot Running is NOT Toe Strike Running
Просмотров 985Год назад
Forefoot running mistakenly gets confused as being toe strike running, which is a completely different foot strike pattern that is very damaging! This is because in toe strike running, where initial ground-contact is made high up on the toes, the heel never contacts the ground, which was found to place enormous stress and strain on the lower leg, resulting in shin splints. In forefoot running, ...
Why Forefoot Running is Safer For Your Feet Than Heel Strike Running
Просмотров 574Год назад
One of the reasons forefoot running is much safer on the feet than heel strike is that it was found to naturally engage other stride parameters that significantly reduces total plantar (foot) loading. Is Heel Striking Bad for Shin Splints?
Просмотров 517Год назад
Running heel-first causes shin splints! Research has found that after the heel strikes the ground, the forefoot smacks hard onto the ground, causing an audible slapping noice. The forefoot-slapping caused unusual prolonged contractions of the shin muscles, leading to pre-mature muscular fatigue and cramps. In forefoot running, shin splints is resolved because at touchdown there's a smoother pla...
Are Running Shoes Bad for Your Feet? Most Are!
Просмотров 999Год назад
Not all running shoes are bad for your feet, just traditional running shoes are NOT good for the feet, and for many reasons. One big reason is the narrow toe-box coupled with the large heel-to-toe- offset (i.e. there's more cushioning under the heel than the front of the foot) causes bunions! Forefoot Running Does Not Cause Achilles Tendon Injury
Просмотров 670Год назад
There's a huge misconception that forefoot running causes Achilles pain and injury, and the reason its a misconception is because there's no studies verifying such connection. In fact, there's firm evidence proving forefoot running does not cause Achilles injury. If anything, forefoot running is the antidote for Achilles tendon injury whereas heel strike running is the main cause of this naggin...
Why Barefoot Running is Safer!

How to Run Properly: Forefoot Strike and Lean Forward!
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.Год назад
The biggest question in running is how to run properly? Good news is the science is settled that the safest, most efficient way to run is to avoid landing heel-first, and instead land with a forefoot strike! This is because forefoot running does a significantly better job at helping you avoid damaging impact burdens altogether. An additional mechanical factor that also helps keep impact low and...

I've noticed, for me, my arm swing form changes because I usually run on uneven surfaces like concrete. I'm sure many people rarely venture into the asphalt where it is still also never really even. Perfect form is essentially impossible on an imperfect surface. It varies too much. My foot placement is probably the biggest contributor to problems as it travels up the whole body. I don't know if anybody can be unaffected by the inconsistent ground surface. I think I'm just going to have to embrace to novelty of the varying momentary needs. Any thoughts on that would be welcomed (such as the best strategy when encountering those uneven surfaces, etcetera).

It’s about rotating the shoulder girdle backwards like a backstroke swimmer while you run. Kiptum showed the world that it was the best way to use the spinal engine. People are too blind and focus on arms and elbows, it’s a red herring.

This is not the reason. Natural elasticity is a contributive, but the main reason the forefoot’s generally faster is because it’s usually associated with footfall closer to the center of mass. Acceleration can’t begin in the stride until the hips pass the forefoot according to physics, so the less overstride = less time to falling forward & accelerating. If we reach out onto the forefoot overstride will occur, & the quicker acceleration advantage isn’t there. The closer to hip landing’s also the reason for less associated injury risk, & that is squandered as well if we reach out 🏃🏼‍♀️no matter what part of the foot lands first.

Before you get to midfoot your picking either heel or forefoot first.

Last year I went on a 5k run that I was ready to skip out on due to hip joint pains. I focused on walking only on my front pads of my feet with NO heel strikes, completed the 5k and my hips and knees actually felt better. Only my calves were exhausted because I had never actually challenged them for that long a period of time. I was stiff for several weeks to a month..but not in pain. I was thrilled with the result and am looking at the sport line over the current daily wear with hemp material - which are my go to for super comfort going out and about.

I hadn’t realised there was a debate, I just thought people who landed on their heels were poor runners. Note: sound volume of foot fall equates to energy loss. On any running machine in a gym, one can tell the people that land on their heels, they are loud.

What's wrong with slow running ? Aerobic runs are usually a part of any marathon training plan. You will "thud" the ground only if you are unfit and out of shape, or are a total newbie to running.
